Our class has been selected to pilot the ST Math program for Kindergarten! This is a program/app that grades 1 and 2 use already and has been proven to be very effective! Mr. Pera, our math specialist, came in today to introduce us to ST Math and to help us learn our passwords. He will be working with us over the next few days to help us get into a good routine. Students will probably use the program 3-4 times a week for about 10 minutes each use.
ST Math uses a visual approach to learning difficult math concepts. It is not designed to replace math instruction in the classroom but should compliment it nicely. The students were very engaged with the program today and are already looking forward to using it as a center activity during our math block.
A letter will go home tomorrow that explains the program in more detail. The letter is also pictured below. Not all the information applies to Kindergarten but should give you some useful information. Please let me know if you have any questions.
